Safari guides is crucial to a successful safari. Hence, we invest in regular training to keep our guides abreast with customer service standards. All our guides are fluent and articulate in conversational English and some can even converse in other foreign languages like French, German, Spanish, Portuguese or Italian. We endeavor for our clients to be educated about African wildlife as well as acquire first-hand experience of African hospitality.
Responsibilities of Our Guides
Provide briefing on your safari before the tour commence
In-charge of driving the safari vehicle made especially for game viewing. All our guides are well-trained in tracking wildlife
Provide information about each parks visited, animals spotted, and all other educational and interesting information about African wildlife in general. Our guides also have an intensive knowledge of the local African flora and fauna, geography and animal behavior patterns.
Levels of Our Guides
Has at least 3 years of bush experience. Commands conversational English, and can identify all species of animals and birds and have some knowledge of their behavior. He has a good understanding of the local cultures, and often can speak some of the local languages. Under certain conditions, he might have to use references to try and find out more information about the safari activities. Superior guides are often used in all safari tours.
Guides at this top level have more than 10yrs. experience and holds a Safari professional guide’s license. They are also registered tour guides with the Tanzania Tour Guide Association (TTGA). They often have received training from the African College of Wildlife Management Tanzania (MWEKA) covering all facets of guiding wildlife tours. He’s an accomplished birdwatcher, with an excellent understanding of wildlife and its behavior. The depth and breadth of his knowledge will considerably enrich your safari. On some trips, it’s possible to upgrade to senior guide for £80 extra per day.
A premium safari guide has more experience guiding for at least 5 years. This person has traveled outside of Africa and therefore has a broader perspective and understanding of its customers. He has a good knowledge of trees, plants, reptiles and insects and has excellent skills in identifying birds and animals as well as their behaviors. Bird-watchers will appreciate his very detailed knowledge of bird species. Typically a premium guide costs from around £30 extra per day per group.
